The telecommunications command 800 was one of the telecommunications commands of the territorial army in the army of the German armed forces . The seat of the staff was Hilden . The telecommunications command was subordinate to the Territorial Command North .
assignments
The telecommunications command bundled the units of the telecommunications force at the level of the territorial command . The territorial command was structured similarly to the corps of the field army with their telecommunications subordinate as part of the corps troops . The Territorial Command was to by the telecommunications command in a position with its own forces, the telecommunications links directly under its troops to the subordinate military district commands to the German and Allied Corps of the Northern Army Group , to neighboring territorial commands and via the telecommunications command 900 to the national command staff of the Armed Forces to hold. Since the commander of the territorial command was also the national commander vis-à-vis NORTHAG , the telecommunications command secured communication with the NORTHAG command staff through the connection via telecommunications battalion 840 NORTHAG. The subordinate Telecommunications Battalion 810 operated the telecommunications center of the Territorial Command . Further tasks were the acquisition and evaluation of front messages and the psychological defense . The PSV troop produced and broadcast the radio station for soldiers, Radio Oberharz .
Like most units of the Territorial Army , the telecommunications command only grew to its full personnel strength of around 4,600 men in the event of a defense . This was roughly the size of a field army brigade .
structure
Around 1989 the telecommunications command was roughly divided into:
-
Staff / Headquarters Company telecommunications command 800, Hilden
- Telecommunication company 801 (GerEinh), Borken
- Front News Company 800 (GerEinh), Düsseldorf
- Telecommunication Battalion 810, Wuppertal
- Telecommunications Battalion 820 (partially active), Düsseldorf
- Telecommunications Battalion 830 (GerEinh) , Borken
- Fernmeldebataillon 840 NORTHAG , Essen ( to NORTHAG Signal Group in case of a defense )
- PSV Battalion 800 (partially active), Clausthal-Zellerfeld (disbanded September 1989)
- PSV training company 801, Neuwied (Clausthal-Zellerfeld until 1988, in peace with PSV battalion 800)
- Telecommunications training company 811, Wuppertal (in peacetime to telecommunications battalion 810)
- Telecommunications training company 821, Düsseldorf (in peacetime to telecommunications battalion 820)
history
Lineup
The telecommunications command 800 was set up at the latest to take over Army Structure IV in the 1980s.
resolution
After the end of the Cold War , Telecommunication Command 800 was decommissioned around 1994 at about the same time as the decommissioning of the Territorial Command North .
Association badge
The telecommunications command did not have its own association badge due to its planning as part of the troops directly subordinate to the territorial command . The soldiers therefore wore the association badge of the higher-level territorial command .
As a "badge", the internal association badge of the staff and the staff company " pars pro toto " was sometimes used imprecisely for the entire telecommunications command. As a reference to the stationing area, it showed a crenellated beam similar to the Hilden coat of arms and a wall anchor as in the coat of arms of the Borken district . The lightning bolt , which is similarly contained in the beret badge of the telecommunications troops, was an indication of the type of service . Except for the lightning bolt, the internal association badge of the staff of the telecommunications command resembled the internal association badge of the staff of the Territorial Command North.
