The logistics center of the army (LogZH) was one of the centers of the army in the Federal Republic of Germany until 2008 . It was subordinate to the Army Office and performed central logistical planning and control tasks for the Army with around 600 men . On April 1, 2008, the office was incorporated into the Army Office.

assignment

The office was the logistical competence center and logistics center of the army. In addition, it performed management and planning tasks in the area of use of defense material and logistics for the army. Specifically, this meant making the army equipment ready for use and ready for use. It was involved in the army 's armaments process for which the Army Office is responsible . Furthermore, it was responsible for material management and maintenance, in particular for planning material management and maintenance as far as new material to be introduced into the army was concerned. In addition, the logistics center of the army worked together with other units of the armed forces in order to further develop the logistics in the armed forces. However, the army logistics troops carrying out the work were not managed by the army logistics center, but by the subordinate departments of the army command , insofar as the logistics were not already handled by the armed forces base (e.g. logistics office of the Bundeswehr and logistics center of the Bundeswehr ). Around 600 soldiers and civilian employees were subordinate to the logistics center of the army to fulfill its mission. The center was run by a brigadier general .

history

The logistics center of the army was set up on October 1st, 2002. It was essentially based on the Central Command Material Transfer Organization (Army) set up in 1956 (later: Command Depot Organization ). On July 1, 1970, command of the depots was given to the territorial commands . The now as a command Depot Organization (army) called command Depot organization was for the Army Material office reclassified. Tasks were the development of defense material, the technology (from 1976 also telecommunications equipment repair) and the material maintenance. In 1995 it was placed under the newly created Army Support Command. The logistics center was formed in 2002 from the Army Materials Office and other parts of the Army Support Command - but it did not match these in terms of tasks and structure. The logistics center of the Army was incorporated into the Army Office as Department V on April 1, 2008 . Department V continued to perform similar tasks in the Army Office and was still headed by a brigadier general.
