In 1393 Vordorf was first mentioned by name in a document:

"At this time there were twelve von Wunsidel, vir von Nagel, von Reichenbach vir, von Trostein vir, von Lewpoldsdorf two, von Schonbrun six and von Vordorff five, all old and young: the old as knowing, the young as noticing."

- Monumenta Zollerana, Volume 8, No. 403

There is also a document from 1061 that gave a ministerial named Otnant the ownership of an area around what is now the Vordorf. Although no place names are mentioned in the text, there is talk of land, buildings and fields. The assumption that this settlement was Vordorf is supported by the fact that tin mining began in this area during this period. This was operated successfully until the first half of the 15th century, but then stopped due to exhaustion of the deposits. At that time Vordorf had about 40 inhabitants.

The Thirty Years' War was relatively quiet for Vordorf until 1642, but the list of all subjects in which 6 offices from 1642 stated that 19 houses were destroyed or damaged and 2 residents died. If you compare the list of 1619 with that of 1658, you get 16 deaths among those able to serve.

In 1769, the last bear in northern Bavaria was shot near Vordorf.

During the National Socialist regime, no residents in Vordorf were murdered for political, religious or racist reasons. Interest in National Socialism was relatively low among the population, but towards the end of the peace years, approval grew, because the National Socialist agricultural policy brought about a local economic boom. When the war began, not much changed in Vordorf, for example the farmers were able to provide for themselves, which is why food rationing was not a problem. In 1940 the first soldiers from Vordorf fell. In 1943, residents of Hamburg and Berlin who had fled the bombs were admitted to Vordorf. On March 11, 1943, a German military plane crashed near Vordorf. At the beginning of 1945, Allied planes shot at locomotives between Tröstau and Leupoldsdorf. On April 19, 1945, US forces occupied Vordorf.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1978 Vordorf was incorporated into the municipality of Tröstau.

coat of arms

The municipal coat of arms of the former municipality Vordorf was posted on August 7, 1957 ministerial approval (No. IB. 1 - 3000-29 V / 1).

Vordorf coat of arms
Blazon : Divided by gold and black ; two red - armored bear paws crossed diagonally above; Two silver miner's hammers crossed diagonally below. "
Justification for the coat of arms: Klemens Stadler says in his book:

“The community corridor in front of the slopes of the Schneeberg belonged to the clearing company of the Lords of Hertenberg , whose center was Schönbrunn Castle . Of the two different coats of arms of the Hertenbergers that can be identified in seals in the 13th and 14th centuries, the one with the bear's paws was chosen as a historical memory, which is handed down as the main coat of arms of the family in the later heraldic books. In the municipal coat of arms, this image alludes to the shooting of the last bear in the Fichtel Mountains by the Vordorf forester in 1769 and the nickname “The Bears” for the community residents. The colors silver and black in the lower half of the shield refer to the quartered shield of the Zollerischen burgraves of Nuremberg , who in 1344 after a protracted feud with the Hertenbergers incorporated the court of Schönbrunn into their territory. Vordorf later belonged to the administrative authority of Wunsiedel in the Margraviate of Bayreuth . The mining equipment symbolizes the former hammer mills near Vordorf, the tin production mentioned in a document as early as 1398, especially in the Seehaus area, and the tin smelter built in 1774 in Vordermühle. The tin mining only came to a standstill in 1827. Numerous tin trenches can still be seen in the forest areas around Vordorf. "
