The Amtshauptmannschaft Wunsiedel was an administrative area of the Principality of Bayreuth , which was ruled by a branch line of the Hohenzollern until 1791/92 . The Amtshauptmannschaft Wunsiedel emerged during the first half of the 16th century from the "Wunsiedel Military District" established in 1498.

location

The Amtshauptmannschaft Wunsiedel bordered in the west on the Amtshauptmannschaft Bayreuth and the Oberamt Gefrees , in the north on the Landeshauptmannschaft Hof , in the east on Bohemia and in the south on the Upper Palatinate .

history

In the area there were originally the six judicial offices of Hohenberg , Kirchenlamitz , Selb , Thierstein , Weißenstadt and Wunsiedel , which is why it was also referred to as the Sechsamtland . The offices were partly imperial and partly subordinate to the burgraviate of Nuremberg . In the following years all offices fell to the burgraviate. The offices were united under the Margrave Albrecht. The common caste office was originally in Hohenberg, and fairly soon afterwards in Wunsiedel. In the land book of the six offices of 1499 the scope of the office was described for the first time. The fact that Arzberg, Höchstädt, Marktleuthen, Schönbronn and Thiersheim later achieved city and market justice, increased the number of judges to eleven. Up until the end of the 18th century, judges' offices were merged or separated again and again. After all, it was the six offices below.
