Kleinwendern is a district of the municipality of Bad Alexandersbad in the Upper Franconian district of Wunsiedel .

Location and description

Place view

The place is located south of the core town of Bad Alexandersbad and can only be reached by car via this. The B 303 runs north . The place is in the valley of the Wendernerbach. In the list of architectural monuments in Bad Alexandersbad, there is no architectural monument for small users .

The counterpart by name to Kleinwendern is Großwendern , the greater distance between the two places can probably be explained in terms of settlement history. From the land book of the six offices from 1499 it emerges that Kleinwendern was in the possession of the pastor of Marktredwitz . At that time, Marktredwitz belonged to the city of Eger ( Cheb ) as Redwitz . The high jurisdiction , however, lay with the Kulmbach margrave , a fee - called protection holders - had to be paid by the residents to the office of Wunsiedel , as part of the state of six offices. It has been reported that the village was pillaged by Bavarian troops who came from Waldeck Castle in Leuchtenberg .

In 1818 Kleinwendern came to the community of Leutendorf . The village has belonged to Bad Alexandersbad since 1957. The actor and director Heinz Rippert lived in the village since the 1960s and was involved in setting up a village museum and in the publication of writings on local history.

In 2018, a witch house was built in the forest for the filming of The Little Witch . Kleinlosnitz , along with the Kleinlosnitz Farm Museum, was one of the Upper Franconian filming locations.
