history

Manor and Castle Erkersreuth

In 1252 a "noble von Raitenbach " from Erkersreuth was mentioned. Other mentions of Erkersreuth come from the years 1342, 1378, 1392 and 1401. A contract from 1414 between the burgrave and the city of Eger contains the comment: "Erkersreuth with a knight's seat and the whole village". Nickel zu Raitenbach was an assessor at the district court of Eger in 1416/1417. In 1527 Wolf von Raitenbach was given neck jurisdiction for Erkersreuth. His son Niklas (1532–1605), a quite contentious knight, took over the fiefdom. In 1616 his grandson Conrad von Raitenbach owned the Erkersreuth manor. In 1689 Conrad's son Friedrich Wilhelm von Raitenbach died without any descendants. Brother Caspar Carl took over the property, but also remained without an heir. The knight dynasty of the von Raitenbach on Erkersreuth died out in 1691.

In 1696, Bernhard Jobst von Lindenfels bought the manor for 33,000 guilders (fl) from the Principality of Bayreuth . The Lindenfels family members were among the highest officials in the Principality of Bayreuth. In 1748 the new castle of the Lindenfelser was built, which still exists. In 1800 Adam Carl von Lindenfels sold the Erkersreuth property to the Prussian aristocrat Theodor von Kretschmann (from 1801 to 1808 "Conducting State Minister of the Principality of Saxony-Coburg-Saalfeld"). Within ten years, Kretschmann sold the property to the bourgeoisie and to his rear passengers . In 1811, Erkersreuth Castle came into the possession of private individuals, the manufacturers Riedel from Klingenthal (until 1872) and Franz Wilfer from Haslau (from 1872 to 1899).

In 1879 Franz Wilfer leased part of the palace building to the brothers Max and Philipp Rosenthal . With purchased white goods, the two began painting porcelain. From this the company Rosenthal AG developed . In 1899 the castle was owned by the Rauh und Ploß company (former brewery in Selb) until 1953, and they sold it to Rosenthal AG. Schloss Erkersreuth has been owned by Rosenthal GmbH since 2009.

The mostly preserved manor of the Raitenbacher and the new castle of the Lindenfelser are in the center of the village.

Coat of arms and flag

Flag of the community of Erkersreuth in the Angerpark

The Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior gave its consent to the acceptance of the coat of arms and the flag in a letter dated May 18, 1961:

Coat of arms of the former community of Erkersreuth
Blazon : “Split, divided obliquely to the left by silver and red; at the back a black sloping bar covered with three six-pointed stars in silver. "
Justification of the coat of arms: This historical coat of arms is the amalgamation of the coats of arms of the nobles von Raitenbach and the barons of Lindenfels . The former is symbolized by an oblique division into silver and red. The Lindenfels coat of arms consists of a black sloping bar on silver, which is covered with three gold stars.

The description of the flag reads: “Three stripes in the color sequence white, red, yellow; it can also be carried with the municipal coat of arms . ”The flag consecration took place within the scope of the Erkersreuther Wiesenfest June 24, 1961 in the castle courtyard of Erkersreuth by Baron von Lindenfels zu Thumsenreuth , a descendant of the Lindenfelser zu Erkersreuth, who received the approval for the use of the Lindenfelser house coat of arms The community of Erkersreuth.
