Location of Schönlind in Bavaria

The village of Schönlind is a district of the district town of Wunsiedel in the district of Wunsiedel in the Fichtel Mountains (northeast Bavaria), four kilometers to the northeast. In 2000 there were 24 people living in Schönlind. The village has received several awards in the competition “ Our village should become more beautiful ”. Holidays on the farm are popular.

history

Little is known of the history of the village of Schönlind; it was on an old trunk road from Gefrees to the Schirndinger Pass . It was first mentioned in a document in an invoice from the margravial office of Wunsiedel in 1421/22, when the residents had to hand over eggs to the bailiff in Hohenberg; In 1499 it consisted of four courtyards; In 1677 a shepherd's house was named that still exists. In 1818 the village came to what was then Bernstein . On January 1, 1978, Bernstein (with Schönlind) was incorporated into the district town of Wunsiedel .

Attractions

  • Large stone cross north of the village pond; it has hatchets crossed in a border on the back. The legend reports that two butchers killed each other there.
