Heiligenfurt is a district of the city of Arzberg in the district of Wunsiedel in the Fichtelgebirge , Upper Franconia .

geography

Heiligenfurt is a hamlet and a former mill, located on the Feisnitz , around three kilometers southeast of the city center. It is located at the foot of the Kohlberg . A little to the north is the hamlet of Theresienfeld .

history

Old boundary stone between Prussia (P) and Bavaria (B) at the Feisnitz bridge

The hamlet was first mentioned in 1499. At that time there was already a ford over the Feisnitz , which was replaced by a bridge in 1803. From 1792 to 1810 the border between Bavaria and Prussia ran at this point.

The construction of the Eger water pipeline in 1927 and 1928 represented a major cut for the mill, which withdrew water from the Feisnitz. Although the owners received compensation, this was one reason to focus more on the inn, which had been in existence since 1871, and the associated agriculture. The grinding operation was stopped in 1929 and the milling equipment was removed in 1948.

In the past, other names of the Heiligenfurt mill were Schrickermühle, Wastlmühle and Gawerermühle.

In the course of the regional reform, Heiligenfurt, which belonged to the municipality of Haid , was incorporated into the city of Arzberg on January 1, 1977.
