geography
The place is in the valley of the Röslau halfway between Seußen and Arzberg, in the northwestern Kohlwald at the foot of the Kohlberg .
Elisenfels located on the northern route of Wallenstein - cycle path , the 37.4 kilometers from Kössain in Marktredwitz to Cheb in the Czech Republic leads.
history
At the beginning of the 19th century there was still wilderness in what is now the local area. A footbridge over the Röslau, the so-called Schafsteig, was the beginning of the reclamation of this area before the Gsteinigt . The abundance of wood soon brought various companies to the narrow valley. The porcelain industry in Arzberg, which began at that time, needed porcelain paste, building and packaging material, so that paste mills , sawmills and paper mills were located there. The paper mill owner Jäger from Selb was known , after whom the settlement that was created there was called Jägertal. In 1851 the entrepreneur Maximilian Ebenauer came and built his villa, the so-called manor house, on a rock in the center of the village. After the first name of his wife Elise, the place was now called Elisenfels.
