Neuhaus an der Eger is a district of the town of Hohenberg an der Eger in the Wunsiedel district in the Fichtel Mountains . To the north-west of the district are the ruins of Neuhaus Castle on the Eger .

Neuhaus an der Eger is located on a cleared island in the Selber Forest on a hill that slopes down towards the Eger . Hohenberg an der Eger is about 4 kilometers to the south-east.
Neighboring towns are clockwise, starting in the north: Silberbach , Sommerhau , Hohenberg an der Eger, Kothigenbibersbach , Neuenreuth , Altdürrlas, Neudürrlas, Schwarzteich, Pfannenstiel and Blumenthal . Only the Thiersheim market is directly adjacent to the Neuhauser part of the city of Hohenberg.

history
The origin of the place is related to the construction of the castle Neuhaus an der Eger by the Forster family in the 14th century, which existed only for a short time, from 1389 to 1412. In 1770 the von Schirnding built a castle in the village (now Schlossstrasse 7), which was sold to the community in 1825 to set up a school building. In 1818 the community of Neuhaus was formed with the districts of Neuenmühle, Königsmühle and Sommerhau, in 1862 it belonged to the Rehau district office , and from July 1, 1972 in the Wunsiedel district in the Fichtel Mountains . From January 1, 1978, it was incorporated into the town of Hohenberg an der Eger .
