Confinhaus is a district of the town of Hohenberg an der Eger in the district of Wunsiedel in the Fichtel Mountains . The wasteland is a good half a kilometer from the city center in Egergrund at the eastern foot of the castle hill . Directly opposite, on the other side of the river, is Hammermühle and the border with the Czech Republic .
The two-storey gable roof building was built in the late 18th century as a border house for the border guards, it served as a quarantine station. The name, derived from the Latin confinum for border, indicates the meaning of the house . The building has half-timbered buildings on the upper floor and is a listed building.
