Neuhausen is part of the municipality of Rehau in the Upper Franconian district of Hof .

The village of Neuhausen is located eight kilometers south-east of Rehau and can be reached via State Road 2192 . The district road HO 17 continues as WUN 16 via Lauterbach in the direction of Erkersreuth . Another connecting road leads to Reichenbach . The state road, which used to lead across the border between Germany and the Czech Republic to (Asch) and which is reminiscent of a kilometer stone, was of great importance .

Around 1300 Neuhausen belonged to the rule of the Neubergers , in the 14th century to the Forsters von Selb . In 1412 they sold the former Eger possessions to the burgraves of Nuremberg . In 1555, the Burgraves of Meißen gave those of Zedtwitz auf Neuberg four estates.

A four-sided courtyard, a half-timbered house with an oven extension, is under monument protection . Another listed building is the former customs station, today a residential building with a half-hipped roof and central projectile . The neighboring border economy hosted Goethe several times . The death march from the Helmbrechts satellite camp to Volary (Wallern) stopped there. A series of boundary stones bears the inscription "IH", they refer to the previous property of the haulier Hofmann from Asch.

Neuhausen was a municipality in the district of Rehau and came to the district of Hof when it was dissolved on July 1, 1972 . The community was completely incorporated into Rehau in 1978 with its four community parts Neuhausen, Schönlind , Baumgärtelmühle and Voitmühle . In 1961 it had an area of almost 840 hectares and 224 inhabitants. At the 1970 census there were 194 inhabitants.

The border crossing, which is open to pedestrians, leads to Krásná (Schönbach bei Asch). Hiking destinations are the abandoned settlements Mähring and signs on signs Berg . At the border crossing a memorial commemorates the opening of the border in 2003.
