Wüstenbrunn is a district of the town of Rehau in the Hof district .
The hamlet is located on the northern slope of the Kornberg . A road from Rehau via Rosenbühl and Pilgramsreuth ends there. The place on the edge of the forest is a destination for cross-country skiers and has an allotment garden. To the north are two sources of the Bocksbach, which flows into the Perlenbach a little later .
The place appeared in 1390 as a desert in the possession of the knights of Kotzau and was rebuilt around 1450. In addition to the Kotzauer, the Rabensteiner zu Döhlau were owners. Around 1780 the place consisted of eleven properties, six of which belonged to the Pilgramsreuth administrative office , the rest to the manor in Oberkotzau . When Chamberlain Achim von Arnim acquired the place, he had several houses demolished; today Wüstenbrunn consists of only three properties. On the map from the middle of the 19th century, the layout of the place can be seen in the shape of a radial hoof with clearing areas radiating behind the property. Half of this area has now been reforested. Architectural monument is a residential building with a tailcoat roof from 1801.
