The Central Military Motor Vehicle Office (ZMK) was the recognition and supervisory authority of the German Armed Forces with regard to the training, testing and recognition of the officially recognized experts and inspectors for motor vehicle traffic (aaS and aaP) in accordance with the Motor Vehicle Experts Act . The tasks of the ZMK also included keeping the register of Bundeswehr service driving licenses issued, service driver's licenses issued and service vehicles approved by the Bundeswehr. This also included the motor vehicles and their trailers from foreign headquarters in Germany.

The official seat was Mönchengladbach - Rheindahlen .

The head of the ZMK department was also the head of military motor vehicles (LtrMilKfW). In this function, he monitored compliance with the fundamental traffic regulations. He was also responsible for the further development of military motor vehicles.

The LtrMilKfW decided on the application of the exceptions laid down in the legal regulations for the approval of people and vehicles for public road traffic. Among other things, he decided whether exemptions from building regulations for vehicles according to FZV, StVZO or EC regulation are appropriate and militarily necessary.

structure

The Central Military Motor Vehicle Office was subordinate to the Armed Forces Office and directly to the Armed Forces headquarters. The "Military Motor Vehicle" departments of the military area commands were subordinate to him. In addition, it was authorized to issue instructions to all officially recognized experts and inspectors for vehicle traffic in the Bundeswehr.

history

As a result of the new deployment concept of the Bundeswehr , the Central Military Motor Vehicle Office was dissolved as an authority at the end of 2012 and incorporated into the Bundeswehr Logistics Command in Erfurt , which was newly established in January 2013 as the Military Motor Vehicle Department and Central Military Motor Vehicle Station.

present

On April 20, 2018, the motor vehicle department of the logistics command of the German Armed Forces in Erfurt was again independent and reorganized as the German Armed Forces Center for Motor Vehicle Technology at the same location. In addition to the tasks of a central military motor vehicle station, from July 2018 it will also be in charge of the 20 motor vehicle training centers (driving schools) of the Bundeswehr.
