Deployment concept 2011

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The stationing concept 2011 , short for concept for the stationing of the Bundeswehr in Germany , is a concept in which it was determined where and to what extent the Bundeswehr in Germany will have locations with how many posts . The then Federal Defense Minister , Thomas de Maizière ( CDU ), presented it to the Federal Cabinet in October 2011 . In addition to the suspension of compulsory military service in Germany on July 1, 2011, the concept is a further fundamental reform step in the course of the realignment of the Bundeswehr decided in 2010 .

Due to the stationing concept, 31 Bundeswehr locations were to be  closed. One location corresponds to a political municipality . This can have several properties, e.g. B. Barracks include. Municipalities in which fewer than 15 posts are reported do not count as locations. This applies, for example, to the numerous career advisory offices and the quality test centers of the Bundeswehr. The number of posts should be reduced by more than 50 percent or more than 500 posts at 91 locations.

In August 2019, the Federal Ministry of Defense announced that in addition to nine ammunition and material depots, a further eleven properties would not be given up due to the trend reversal in personnel and material.

The site closings and reductions resolved in 2011 have not yet been fully implemented (as of 2019). According to the original plan, the Bundeswehr should be represented with 15 or more posts at 264 locations once the concept has been implemented.
