Marcel Damphousse (born March 19, 1963 in Saint Joseph , Manitoba ) is a Canadian clergyman and Roman Catholic coadjutor archbishop of Ottawa-Cornwall .

Life

Marcel Damphousse studied psychology at the Collège de Saint-Boniface and from 1988 Catholic theology at the Saint Paul University in Ottawa . He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Saint-Boniface on June 28, 1991 .

After being ordained a priest, Marcel Damphousse worked as a parish vicar in various parishes before becoming pastor of the parish of Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité in Somerset in 1994 and responsible for vocational pastoral care . In 1996 he also became pastor of the parish of Saint-Léon . Damphousse was sent to Rome in 2000 for further studies , where he obtained a licentiate in spirituality from the Pontifical Faculty of Teresianum in 2002 . From 2003 to 2008 Marcel Damphousse was chaplain at St. Boniface High School and again pastor and responsible for vocational ministry. In 2008 Damphousse became rector of the Saint-Boniface cathedral and a member of the diocesan property council.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Alexandria-Cornwall on June 28, 2012 . He was ordained episcopal by the Archbishop of Kingston , Brendan Michael O'Brien , on September 2 of the same year; Co - consecrators were Paul-André Durocher , Archbishop of Gatineau , and Albert LeGatt , Archbishop of Saint-Boniface.

On November 12, 2015, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Sault Sainte Marie . Pope Francis appointed him Coadjutor Archbishop of Ottawa-Cornwall on May 6, 2020. The inauguration took place on June 16 of the same year.
