Maroun Ammar

Maroun Ammar (born February 10, 1956 in Hajé ) is a Lebanese clergyman and Maronite bishop of Sidon .

Life

Maroun Ammar was ordained a priest for the Archeparchy of Tire on September 17, 1983 .

Pope Benedict XVI confirmed the appointment as auxiliary bishop and patriarchal vicar in Joubbé, Sarba and Jounieh and on June 16, 2012 appointed him titular bishop of Canatha . The Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and of the whole Orient , Béchara Pierre Raï OMM , ordained him episcopal on July 28th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Samir Mazloum , Curia Bishop Emeritus in Antioch, Guy-Paul Noujaim , Curia Bishop Emeritus in Joubbé, Sarba and Jounieh, Paul Youssef Matar , Archbishop of Beirut , Francis Némé Baïssari , Auxiliary Bishop emeritus in Joubbé and Joubbé, Sarah , Curia Bishop in Antioch, Joseph Mohsen Béchara , Old Archbishop of Antelien , Simon Atallah OAM , Bishop of Baalbek-Deir El-Ahmar , François Eid OMM, Procurator of the Maronite Patriarch at the Holy See , Edgar Amine São Madi , Bishop of Nossa Senhora do Líbano em Paulo , and Michel Aoun , Bishop of Jbeil .

On January 30, 2017, he was appointed Apostolic Administrator for the period of the Sedis vacancy . Pope Francis confirmed his election as Bishop of Sidon on June 17, 2017.
