Paul Nabil El-Sayah

Paul Nabil El-Sayah (born December 26, 1939 in Ain El-Kharroubé, Lebanon ) is a clergyman of the Maronite Church and Curia Bishop at the Patriarchate of Antioch .

Life

Paul Nabil El-Sayah received on 3 September 1967, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On June 8, 1996, El-Sayah was appointed Archbishop of the Archeparchy of Haifa and the Holy Land in the Galilee of Northern Israel and Patriarchal Exarch of Jerusalem and Palestine and Patriarchal Exarch of Jordan by the Synod of the Maronites and confirmed by Pope John Paul II . He received his episcopal consecration on October 5, 1996, Cardinal Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir , Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and the whole of the Orient ; Co- consecrators were Boutros Gemayel , Archbishop of the Archeparchy of Cyprus , and Roland Aboujaoudé , Auxiliary Bishop in Antioch .

Paul Nabil El-Sayah called for a more amicable coexistence of the Christian denominations in the Holy Land .

In 2010 he was commissioned with an Apostolic Visit of the Maronite Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary OMM .

On June 6, 2011, Paul Nabil El-Sayah was elected Curia Bishop at the Patriarchate in Lebanon by the Maronite Synod, chaired by Patriarch Béchara Pierre Raï OMM . Pope Benedict XVI has given El-Sayah the personal title of Archbishop for his new role.
