François oath

François Eid OMM (born July 24, 1943 in Mtolleh in Chouf , Lebanon ) is Maronite Bishop emeritus of Cairo and Procurator of the Maronite Patriarch at the Holy See .

Life

François Eid joined the Maronite Order of the Mariamite Maronite Order (OMM) and was ordained a priest on August 28, 1971 . In 1975 he emigrated to Montreal , Quebec, Canada. From 1999 to 2005 he was the superior general of his order.

In 2005 he was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Bishop of the Cairo eparchy of the Maronites. He was ordained bishop by the Patriarch of the Maronites of Lebanon, Nasrallah Boutros Cardinal Sfeir , on February 11, 2006; Co-consecrators were Roland Aboujaoudé and Tanios El Khoury .

On June 16, 2012, François Eid was appointed procurator of the Maronite Patriarch to the Holy See . He resigned as Maronite Bishop of Cairo.

On April 5, 2014, he was appointed a member of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints by Pope Francis .

On April 13, 2015, Pope Francis also appointed him Apostolic Visitator for the Maronite believers in Bulgaria, Greece and Romania. The Pope released him from this office on October 11, 2018.
