Paul Youssef Matar (born February 1, 1941 in Na'ameh , Lebanon ) is Archbishop of the Beirut Archepark .

Life

Paul Youssef Matar was in 1941 in the government of Lebanon Mountain in Na'ameh , located in the historic region of Chouf born, is located.

Matar was on 5 June 1965 at the age of 24, through the donations of the sacrament , the Maronite priests ordained. Paul Youssef Matar received the appointment as auxiliary bishop in the Maronite Patriarchate of Antioch on June 7, 1991 at the age of 50. In addition, Matar was appointed titular bishop of Tarsus dei Maroniti . The ordination that followed took place on August 3, 1991. On June 8, 1996, at the age of 55, Paul Youssef Matar was appointed Archbishop of the Archeparchy of Beirut . In the liturgical episcopal ordination was His Beatitude the Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and the whole East Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir principal consecrator . At his side were Bishop Roland Aboujaoudé and Archbishop Boutros Gemayel as co-consecrators .

Archbishop Paul Youssef Matar has acted as co-consecrator at the episcopal ordinations of Archbishops Youssef Anis Abi-Aad , Samir Nassar and at the episcopal ordination of Bishop Edgar Madi .

He is the Chancellor of La Sagesse University in Beirut.
