Samir Nassar

Samir Nassar (born July 5, 1950 in Nebay , Lebanon ) is the Maronite Archbishop of the Archeparchy of Damascus .

Life

Samir Nassar received the sacrament of ordination for the Archeparchy of Damascus on August 17, 1980 .

On June 10, 2006, the Synod of Bishops of the Maronite Bishops elected him Archbishop of the Archeparchy of Damascus. Pope Benedict XVI agreed to his election as Archbishop of the Archeparchy Damascus on October 14, 2006. The Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and the whole of the Orient , Cardinal Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir , ordained him episcopal on November 26th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of the Beirut Archepark , Paul Youssef Matar , and the Bishop Emeritus of the Eparchy Nossa Senhora do Líbano em São Paulo , Joseph Mahfouz OLM .

At Christmas 2017, Nassar made an urgent appeal to the Western community to help Syrian refugees through missio Aachen under the title "The Unwanted".
