Raymond Eid (born August 6, 1930 in Mazraat-el-Dahre , † June 11, 2012 ) was Maronite Archbishop of Damascus .

Life

Raymond Eid was ordained a priest for the Sidon eparchy on May 30, 1957 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Damascus on June 5, 1999 .

The Maronite Patriarch of Antioch , Nasrallah Pierre Cardinal Sfeir , donated him episcopal ordination on November 20 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Tanios El Khoury , Bishop of Sidon , and Émile Eid , Vice-President of the Commission for the Codification of Eastern Church Law .

In 2006 Pope Benedict XVI took his age-related retirement.
