The VK Uralochka-NTMK ( Russian волейбольный клуб Уралочка-НТМК ) is a Russian women's volleyball club from Yekaterinburg ( Sverdlovsk Oblast ), which was founded in 1966 and is Russia's most successful women's team with 26 national championship titles and eight European Cup victories .
history
The association was founded in 1966 as DSO Trud from the transport company Jakow Michailowitsch Sverdlow . In December of the same year, the club acquired the right to participate in the top division of the Soviet Union. The team's first coach was AW Kiltschewsky. From 1968 the association was called Uralotschka Sverdlovsk , after it was temporarily called DSO Senit . In 1969 he was relegated from the major league and Kiltschewsky left the club.
Since 1969, for over 40 years, the team has been coached by Nikolai Karpol , who led them to a large number of titles, especially in the 1970s and 1980s. Between 1986 and 2005 the team won all national championship titles without interruption. In addition, it won the European Champions Cup a total of eleven times , making it the dominant women's volleyball team in Europe in the 1980s and 1990s.
Between 1991 and 2001 the club played as Uralotschka Yekaterinburg before getting its current name. The NTMK group from Nizhny Tagil acts as the team's name sponsor . Most of the club's home games are played in the Metallurg Forum in Nizhny Tagil, which holds 3,200 spectators. A few games are also played in the Palace of Game Sports "DIVS" in Yekaterinburg, which can seat up to 5,000 spectators.
