Celler Trialog

The Celler Trialog is a national forum made up of representatives from politics, business and the armed forces with the aim of strengthening the networking of German security policy. The meeting was initiated in 2007 by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Commerzbank , Klaus-Peter Müller , and Major General Wolf Langheld , former commander of the 1st Panzer Division in Hanover , in Celle , Lower Saxony . In the first few years, the event was under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Lower Saxony . In the Celle appeal of 2008, the intention was stated to meet annually in camera. The Federal Ministry of Defense and Commerzbank are responsible for selecting participants.

Self-image

The participants see their commitment in terms of “networked security”, to which the Federal Government committed itself in its 2006 White Paper . Due to globalization, Germany is closely linked to the political and economic developments of other countries and, as a raw material-poor, export-oriented country, relies on stability and security. 2007

2008

The second meeting in 2008 had around 120 guests. Around 160 representatives were received at the third forum in 2009. 2010

The fourth Celler Trialogue planned for September in Kiel was canceled in June by the Federal Minister of Defense in coordination with the Board of Directors of Commerzbank. The reason given was budget constraints.

2013

On May 22 and 23, 2013, Thomas de Maizière (Federal Minister of Defense), Armin Papperger (Chairman of the Board of Management Rheinmetall AG ) and General Volker Wieker (General Inspector of the Bundeswehr) met again for talks under the motto "Politics - Bundeswehr - Economy: Cooperation or competition? ".

The sixth Celler Trialog took place from Monday, October 24th to Tuesday, October 25th, 2016.
