Hans-Peter Keitel (born August 4, 1947 in Kusel ) is a German manager .

Life

education

Born in Kusel in 1947 as the son of a building contractor, Hans-Peter Keitel studied civil engineering , as well as work and economics in Stuttgart and Munich. He received his doctorate in 1975 from the Technical University of Munich on the subject of decision-making aids for the planning of underground traffic routes .

job

After working for a number of years as a project manager and in managerial positions at Lahmeyer International , a technical consulting company, in Germany and abroad, he has been with Hochtief since 1988 . As a director on the board, he was responsible for international business. From 1990 to 2007 Keitel was a member of the Hochtief Executive Board, and from 1992 to 2007 as its chairman. Then he switched to the supervisory board . In 1995 he took part in the Bilderberg Conference in Bürgenstock .

From 2005 to the end of 2012 he was President of the Main Association of the German Construction Industry . On January 1, 2009, Keitel became President of the Federation of German Industries (BDI) . For several years he was a member of the international board of the consulting firm Hakluyt & Company .

Keitel is a member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering . He was at times a member of their Senate.

In August 2010, Keitel was one of 40 prominent signatories of the energy policy appeal . This lobbying initiative of the four large German electricity companies ( E.ON , EnBW , RWE and Vattenfall Europe ) called for an extension of the service life of German nuclear power plants . The Bundestag actually extended the terms in October 2010; after the start of the Fukushima nuclear disaster in March 2011, however, he revised this.

At the suggestion of the CDU, Keitel was a member of the 13th Federal Assembly and the 14th Federal Assembly and took part in the elections for the German Federal President on May 23, 2009 and June 30, 2010 , respectively.

Keitel was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Voith GmbH & Co. KGaA from 2014 to 2019 . His successor is Siegfried Russwurm .
