Hakluyt & Company
Hakluyt & Company is a UK consultancy . It was founded in 1995 by Christopher James and Mike Reynolds. Hakluyt is headquartered in London with additional offices in Singapore and New York .
Hakluyt avoids the public. The company's founders were previously members of the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6). In 2001 Hakluyt got into public discussion when it became known that Hakluyt might have tried to infiltrate environmental organizations on behalf of the oil companies BP and Shell.
In 2012, research by parliament watch.de revealed that Michael Fuchs , member of the Bundestag and vice-leader of the CDU parliamentary group, had worked for Hakluyt for years without this secondary activity having been correctly stated. Fuchs defends himself against allegations of having deliberately concealed his secondary employment. However, he issued warnings to various organizations, including the operators of the website parliamentwatch.de, but failed to clarify whether he was working for Hakluyt & Company Limited or the Hakluyt Society .
