Rolf Rodenstock
Rolf Rodenstock (born July 1, 1917 in Munich ; † February 6, 1997 ibid) was a German economist , head of the Rodenstock family business and economic functionary .
Life
The son of the entrepreneur Alexander Rodenstock studied business administration at the Technical University of Munich from 1940 , but had to interrupt it several times because of his participation in the Second World War. After a degree in business administration was carried out in 1944, the promotion of Dr. rer pol.
In 1947 he completed his habilitation in Munich with the thesis The accuracy of the cost accounting of industrial companies and became a private lecturer. From 1956 to the beginning of the 1980s he was professor for company organization, industrial accounting and technical and economic rationalization at the Technical University of Munich.
As early as 1943 he took over the management of the business administration department of the Optical Works G. Rodenstock in Munich. In 1946 he became a member of the management of his father's company. In 1953, after the death of his father, he took over the management of the optical works as a personally liable partner.
Under his leadership, the company became one of the leading manufacturers of eyeglass lenses, eyeglass frames and precision optics in Europe. From 1983 he shared the management of the company with his son Randolf Rodenstock , who took over the operational management alone in 1990. Rolf Rodenstock remained a partner.
In 1947 he was a co-founder of the Precision Mechanics and Optics Association and its chairman until 1964. Since 1949 he was a member of the presidium of the regional association of Bavarian industry and led it from 1955 to 1977. From 1952 he was a board member of the Federal Association of German Industry (BDI), from September 1978 to the end of 1984 its president.
From 1966 to 1978 he was President of the Institute for the German Economy in Cologne. In 1971 he became Vice President of the Association of Employers' Associations in Bavaria. From 1971 to 1990 he was President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Munich and Upper Bavaria .
On July 3, 1959 - he had just turned 42 years old - he was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit . He was granted honorary citizenship of the city of Regen on February 24, 1977.
Their son Benedict Rodenstock (* 1970) comes from their marriage to Inge Rodenstock (* 1936).
