Golden Medal of Honor of the City of Munich
The Golden Medal of Honor of the City of Munich is awarded in recognition of special and extraordinary achievements in and around Munich .
On October 9, 1928, the Munich City Council decided to introduce the Golden Medal of Honor to personalities who have rendered outstanding services to the city of Munich in the cultural or economic field. The award is made by resolution of the city council.
The winners receive a medal of solid gold with a diameter mm 30.5. It bears a portrait relief of the honored personality on the front and the dedication acknowledgment and thanks on the back . The names of the award winners are inscribed on the plaques in the upper foyer of the old town hall .
