Johannes Guzy
Johannes Guzy (born May 24, 1873 in Breslau ; † February 21, 1945 in Freystadt (Silesia)) was a Roman Catholic priest .
Life
After his ordination in 1898, Guzy first worked in Bolkenhain . In 1905 he was appointed pastor in Freystadt. After the Russian soldiers marched into Freystadt on February 13, 1945, the priest was constantly on the move to give the sacraments.
On February 16, he received a cry for help from the Catholic hospital. Russian soldiers penetrated there and harassed the nuns. Guzy stood protectively in front of her and was immediately shot at by the soldiers who inflicted several hits on him, including in the face. On February 21, 1945 Guzy died of the gunshot wounds.
The Catholic Church included Archpriest GR Johannes Guzy as a witness of faith in the German martyrology of the 20th century .
