Denis Alexejewitsch Petrow ( Russian Денис Алексеевич Петров , born March 3, 1968 in Leningrad , Soviet Union ) is a former Russian figure skater who competed in pair skating for the Soviet Union, the CIS and the United Team .

From 1987 he started with Jelena Betschke . The couple trained with the well-known Russian pair trainer Tamara Moskwina . In 1989 they won the bronze medal straight away at their first World Cup in Paris . In 1991 and 1992 they became vice-European champions and in 1992 they were the last Soviet pair skating champions. The couple's greatest achievement was winning the silver medal at the 1992 Olympics behind their compatriots Natalja Mishkutjonok and Artur Dmitriev .

After this success they resigned from amateur sports and switched to professionals. After winning silver from 1992 to 1995, they became world champions there in 1996. Betschke and Petrow were married from 1990 to 1995. Despite their divorce, they still started together with the professionals, including the ice revue Stars on Ice. Although his partner Betschke resigned from professional sport in 2000, Petrow continued to appear at Stars on Ice for two more years.

Denis Petrow married the Chinese Chen Lu , the 1995 world figure skating champion , on July 7, 2005. They live in the People's Republic of China in Shenzhen near Hong Kong and run an ice skating school there. The couple have a son and a daughter.
