Marina Nikolajewna Pestowa , married. Akbarowa ( Russian Марина Николаевна Пестова (Акбарова) ; born  December 20, 1964 in Sverdlovsk ) is a former Russian figure skater who started in pair skating for the Soviet Union .

Pestova's figure skating partner was Stanislaw Leonowitsch . The pair was trained by Stanislaw Schuk and Igor Ksenofontow .

Pestova and Leonowitsch became Soviet champions in pair skating in 1980, 1982 and 1983. They made their debut at world and European championships in 1978 with seventh place. In 1980 they won their first medals. They won the bronze medal at both the European Championships in Gothenburg and the World Championships in Dortmund . They finished their only Olympic Games in Lake Placid in 1980 in fourth place. The couple's most successful year was 1982. First they became vice European champion in Lyon and then vice world champion in Copenhagen , both times behind Sabine Baeß and Tassilo Thierbach from the GDR . Pestowa and Leonowitsch had their last international appearance at the 1983 World Cup . There they took sixth place. Then they ended their careers.

Marina Pestowa married the pair skater Marat Akbarow and has a daughter with him.
