Igor Alexandrovich Kravtsov

Igor Alexandrowitsch Kravzov ( Russian Игорь Александрович Кравцов ; born December 21, 1973 in Magnitogorsk ) is a former Russian rower . He won with Sergei Fedorowzew , Nikolai Spinjow and Alexei Swirin 2004 Olympic gold medal in quadruple sculls , the first and only gold medal for Russian rowers since the collapse of the Soviet Union .

Career

The 1.92 m tall Igor Krawzow took fifth place in 1993 with the double scull at the Nations Cup , the then unofficial U23 rowing world championships. In 1995 he finished fifth in the single . At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, he finished eighth with the double fours, just like a year later at the 1997 World Championships .

In the Rowing World Cup 2000, Krawzow was again a member of the Russian double foursome, but which had not qualified for the 2000 Olympic Games. At the 2001 World Championships , Krawzow took eighth place once again. The quadruple with Krawzow reached the A-final in 2002 and 2003 , the boat placed fifth in the world championship. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , the Russian four-man finished second behind the Poles, in the first semifinal the Poles won ahead of the German boat, in the second semifinals the Czechs won ahead of the Russians. In the final, the Russians won just ahead of the Czechs, while the Ukrainians came third just ahead of the Poles. At the 2005 World Championships , the Russians competed with the same line-up as in the Olympic gold medal and finished eighth. At the European Championships in 2007 , Krawzow rowed towards the end of his career in one, but only reached the C final.
