Murat Petrovich Khrachev ( Russian Мурат Петрович Храчёв ; born July 25, 1983 in Cherkessk ) is a former Russian boxer and bronze medalist at the 2004 Olympic Games in the lightweight.

Boxing career

Murat Chrachev won the flyweight gold medal at the European Cadet Championships in Baku in 1999 and the featherweight gold medal at the European Junior Championships in Sarajevo in 2001 . At the Junior World Championships in Budapest in 2000 he won the silver medal in bantamweight, after which he was eliminated only in the final against Vitali Tajbert .

In the elite class (adults) he was Russian featherweight champion in 2002 and Russian lightweight champion in 2003. In 2002 he won the Copenhagen Cup in Denmark with victories against Loliwe Phakathi, South Africa, Femi Fehintola, England and Guillaume Salingue, France. At the 2003 World Championships in Bangkok he lost in the first fight against Dilschod Machmudow, Uzbekistan, and at the 2004 European Championships in Pula in the second fight against Ovidiu Bobîrnat, Cyprus.

Nevertheless, he was able to take part in the European Olympic qualification in Baku in April 2004, where he advanced to the final through early victories against Arsen Doko, Albania, Andrew Murray, Ireland and Mariusz Koperski, Poland, where his opponent Volodimir Kravets, Ukraine, did not fight took up and Chrachev was therefore awarded as the winner of the tournament. He then started in August at the Olympic Games in Athens , defeating Chen Tongzhou, China (40:29), Anthony Little, Australia (tko) and Sam Rukundo, Uganda (31:18), before beating Mario Kindelán , Cuba in the semifinals (10:20) lost and was eliminated with a bronze medal.

In 2005 he was a member of the Russian team at the World Cup in Moscow . The team beat Belarus (11: 0), USA (11: 0), Azerbaijan (11: 0) and Cuba (7: 4) to take first place.
