Mansur Mustafayevich Issayev

Mansur Mustafajewitsch Issajew ( Russian Мансур Мустафаевич Исаев ; born September 23, 1986 in Kisiljurt ) is a Russian judoka . He has competed in the lightweight (up to 73 kg) since 2008, and was Olympic champion in this weight class in 2012.

Issajew competed in international junior tournaments in 2003, and in 2006 he was the Russian U23 champion. In 2008 he won the Super World Cup in Rotterdam, and in the same year he was U23 European champion. In 2009 he finished fifth at the European Championships in Tbilisi , after failing in the semi-finals against Dutchman Dex Elmont . At the 2009 World Championships in Rotterdam he was defeated in the semifinals against the South Korean Wang Ki-Chun , the battle for bronze against the Kazakhs Rinat Ibragimow was decided by Issayev. At the European Championships in Vienna in 2010 , Issajew received the bronze medal in the team competition with the Russian team. The 2010 World Championships took place in Tokyo, Issajew lost in the quarterfinals to Dex Elmont and in the battle for bronze against Wang Ki-Chun.

At the World Championships in 2011 and at the European Championships in 2012 , Issajew finished seventh. At the Olympic tournament in London in 2012 , Issayev defeated the Mongols Saindschargalyn Njam-Ochir in the quarter-finals and the South Korean Wang Ki-Chun in the semifinals. In the final he met the Japanese Riki Nakaya , whom he defeated with a yuko rating.

The 1.72 m tall Mansur Issajew also contested numerous international tournaments after his Olympic victory, but won no medals at international championships.
