Tymur Boryssowytsch Tajmasow ( Ukrainian / Russian Тимур Борисович Таймазов , Russian transcription Timur Borissowitsch Taimasow ; born September 8, 1970 in Nogir , North Ossetian ASSR , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Russian- Ukrainian weightlifter of origin.

Career

Tajmasow entered the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona under the flag of the United Team in the class up to 100 kg and won silver with a duel of 402.5 kg.

With the introduction of the new weight classes in 1993, Tajmasow switched to the class up to 108 kg and won the European championship that year with 427.5 kg in a duel before Ronny Weller with 420 kg. Tajmasow, who meanwhile started for Ukraine , also won silver in snatching and bronze in pushing. At the World Cup in the same year he was able to live up to his role as a favorite and won gold in a duel from Stefan Botew , who started for Australia , and in the snatch, as well as bronze in the jerk. At the European Championships in 1994 in Sokolov, Tajmasow increased his performance to 430 kg, consisting of 195 kg in snatching and 235 kg in pushing, and won gold three times. He was even able to increase this performance by 5 kg at the World Cup in Istanbul and won gold three times again.

At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , Tajmasow confirmed his performance again and won Olympic gold with 430 kg in a duel in front of the second-placed Russian Sergei Syrzow with 420 kg and Nicu Vlad with 420 kg as well.
