Sergei Alexandrowitsch Syrzow ( Russian Сергей Александрович Сырцов , scientific transliteration Sergej Aleksandrovič Syrcov ; born October 25, 1966 in Namangan ) is a former Russian weightlifter and sports official.

Career

Sergei Syrzow celebrated his greatest successes at the 1992 Summer Olympics and 1996 Summer Olympics , where he was able to win a silver medal in the weight class up to 90 kg with 412.5 kg and in the weight class up to 108 kg with 420 kg. In addition, he won two world championships in 1991 in the category up to 90 kg with a total output of 410 kg and in 1994 in the category up to 99 kg with 417.5 kg and won three silver medals at the world championships in 1989, 1993 and 1995. There are also two gold medals in 1994 and 1995 and a silver medal in 1989, which he won at the European Championships.

Trainer and functionary

After finishing his active career, Syrzow was, among other things, the selection coach of the Russian juniors. Since April 2010 he has been President of the Russian Weightlifting Association.
