1989 World Weightlifting Championships

The 3rd World Championships in women's weightlifting took place from November 24th to 26th, 1989 in the British city ​​of Manchester , while the 62nd World Championships in men's weightlifting were held in the Greek capital Athens from September 16-23, 1989 . 133 female weightlifters from 25 nations and 220 weightlifters from 37 nations took part in the competitions organized by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) in one-on-one (snatch and push) .
