World Weightlifting Championships 1946

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 25th World Weightlifting Championships took place from October 18-19, 1946 in the French capital, Paris . 79 weightlifters from thirteen nations took part in the competitions held by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) in a three-way fight (two-armed pushing, tearing and pushing) . While the entry of the USSR into the Olympic Movement in 1952 is seen as the beginning of the comparison of systems in sport, there were such competitions as early as 1946.
