World Weightlifting Championships 1891

The 1st World Weightlifting Championships took place on March 28, 1891 in London , the capital of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland . Seven weightlifters from six nations took part in the competitions organized by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) . The British Edward Lawrence Levy won the title of Amateur Champion Weightlifter of the World ( German amateur world champion in weightlifting ).
