Athletic career

Militosjan's international career began in 1987. At the European Championships he was able to take second place behind Mikhail Petrov in the lightweight up to 67.5 kg with 335.0 kg . At the world championships in the same year, the same performance was enough for third place behind Petrow and Andreas Behm .

In 1988 Militosjan took part in his first Olympic Games in Seoul for the Soviet Union and finished second with 337.5 kg, behind Joachim Kunz with 340.0 kg. In the snatch Militosjan was able to set an Olympic record with 155.0 kg.

In 1990, 1991 and 1992 Militosjan was each runner-up behind Jotow. At his last successful World Championships in Donaueschingen in 1991 , Jotow relegated him to second place, but only because of the higher body weight, as both of them achieved 345.0 kg.

At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona , Militosjan now joined the United Team . There he was finally able to beat Jotow again and won Olympic gold in the lightweight up to 67.5 kg. He achieved with 155.0 kg in snatch and 182.5 kg in jerk 337.5 kg in a duel.

In 1994 Militosjan won gold in the snatch in the new class up to 70 kg at the European Championships in Sokolov . Then he went to the 1995 World Championships, the 1996 Olympic Games (now for Armenia ) and even the 1999 World Championships, but could no longer achieve top placements.
