Alexander Wladimirowitsch Kowaljow ( Russian Александр Владимирович Ковалёв ; born March  2, 1975 in Belaja Kalitwa , Rostov Oblast , Soviet Union ) is a Russian canoeist .

Athletic career

At the Olympic Games in 2000 , Kowaljow and Alexander Kostoglod took 6th place in the two-man canoe over 500 meters and fourth place in the two-man canoe over 1000 meters. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , Kowaljow won again with Alexander Kostoglod the silver medal in the two-man canoe over 1000 meters behind the German duo Gille / Wylenzek and the bronze medal in the two-man canoe over 500 meters.

At the 1998 World Championships in Szeged, Hungary, and at the 1999 World Championships in Milan , Italy , Kowaljow and Kostoglod each won the gold medal in the two-man canoe over 1000 meters. At the 2005 World Championships in the Croatian capital Zagreb he won the gold medal in the four-man canoe over 200 meters with Kostoglod, Opalew and Krugljakow .
