Alexander Leonidowitsch Lessun ( Russian Александр Леонидович Лесун ; born July 1, 1988 in Baryssau , Belarusian SSR ) is a Russian - Belarusian pentathlete and Olympic champion .

Life

Alexander Lessun took part in the Junior World and European Championships for the first time in 2008, where he achieved several top 5 results. At the end of 2009, Lessun, who was born in Belarus, moved to Russia and received dual citizenship. From then on he competed internationally under the Russian flag.

He first took part in the Olympic Games in 2012 . He finished fourth in the end. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , he became Olympic champion. With 1479 points, he also set an Olympic record.

Lessun won numerous medals at world championships . He has already been world champion four times: in 2011 with the team, in 2012 and 2014 in singles and in 2016 with the mixed relay. There are also seven silver medals and one bronze medal in various disciplines. At the European Championships he won four titles, also in various disciplines.
