Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne

The Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) is the global umbrella organization of all national sports associations for modern pentathlon .

The Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne was founded on August 13, 1948 by the Swedish Olympic champions Gustaf Dyrssen and Sven Thofelt . Previously, the modern pentathlon was administered directly by the IOC .

The association was named Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne et Biathlon (UIPMB) from 1953 to 1998 . In the beginning the UIPMB was also the umbrella organization for biathlon , after the founding of the International Biathlon Union at an extraordinary congress of the UIPMB in 1993, the two umbrella organizations formally separated in 1998.

The UIPM currently has 98 associations. The association is based in Monaco . The current president is the German Klaus Schormann .

World championships

World championships in modern pentathlon have been held since 1949. These are held annually.
