Klaus Schormann (born July 17, 1946 in Göttingen ) is a German sports official. He is President of the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM), the international umbrella organization for modern pentathlon .

Life

Klaus Schormann studied art and sport at the Pedagogical Institute in Jugenheim from 1964 to 1968. He then continued his studies in geography as well as sport and political science at the Technical University of Darmstadt . After his studies he worked as a teacher in the Hessian school service. In 2004 he was seconded to the Hessian Ministry of Culture , in 2008 he moved to the Hessian Ministry of the Interior , where he worked until 2011.

He began his sporting career as a trainer for TSG Uslar. In 1968 he became a youth manager at the Hessian Association for Modern Pentathlon. From 1972 he held this position at the German Association for Modern Pentathlon . He was elected president in the Hessian (1976) and German (1984) associations. Since 1993 he has headed the Union International de Pentathlon Moderne.

His brother is Dieter Schormann , the former chairman of the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels .
