Dieter Schormann

The Giessen bookseller Dieter Egon Karl Wilhelm Schormann (born July 30, 1945 ) was head of the German Book Trade Association from 2001 to 2005 .

Life

Schormann completed an apprenticeship as a bookseller. In 1968 he became the manager of a bookshop in Hamburg. In the following year he took over the management of the traditional Ferber'schen university bookstore in Giessen, which he became owner in 1975.

From 1995 to 2005 he was a member of the board and from 2001 to 2005 he was head of the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels . After selling his bookstore to the Thalia Group and joining this trading company, he resigned from his offices. Since 2009 he has been running the Holderer university bookstore in Giessen.

Schormann teaches as a lecturer at various academies in Germany and works as an author. He is also a member of the board of the Central Hesse Cultural Summer and headed it from 1992 to 2008.

His brother is Klaus Schormann , world president of the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM).
