Gottfried Honnefelder (born June 26, 1946 in Cologne ) is a German publisher.

Career

Honnefelder is the son of the university professor Kurt Honnefelder . After studying German and philosophy as well as a doctorate, he joined Suhrkamp Verlag . From 1979 to 1996 he was managing director of the publishing group. Together with Siegfried Unseld , he founded the Deutsche Klassiker Verlag as a subsidiary of Insel Verlag. From 1997 to 2006 Honnefelder was managing partner of DuMont Buchverlag in Cologne. In 2006 he took over the management of the Berlin University Press publishing house .

In 1996 Honnefelder was appointed a member of the Board of Trustees for the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade . From 2006 until the end of the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2013, he was head of the German book trade association . He is honorary professor in the Department of Modern German Literature at the Institute for German Studies, Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn .
