Life

Heinrich Riethmüller completed an apprenticeship in the book trade in Heidelberg . In 1977 he joined the family business of the Jordan / Riethmüller families, the Osiander bookstore in Tübingen. Among other things, he initially visited small towns in the provinces for Osiander with a “book mobile” where there were no more sophisticated bookshops. Since 1983 he has been the managing partner of the family company, which under his management "expanded strongly in southern Germany" in the 2000s. After founding the family foundation, which has supported the bookstore since 2016, he is a member of the foundation's board of directors alongside his brother Hermann-Arndt Riethmüller and his nephew Christian Riethmüller.

Riethmüller has been involved in the book industry on a voluntary basis since 2001. Initially he was chairman of the Association of Scientific Assortment and Specialist Bookstores (AWS) until 2007 , then he was chairman of the Assortment Committee of the German Book Trade Association until 2012 and was also a member of the Board of Directors of the German Stock Exchange Association.

In June 2013 Heinrich Riethmüller was elected as the successor to Gottfried Honnefelder as head of the Börsenverein and took up the office in October 2013. Karin Schmidt-Friderichs was elected as his successor in June 2019 .
