Swim & Run

Switch from swimming to running

A swim & run (also aquathlon or ambathlon ) is an endurance competition . As an all-around competition, it consists of the disciplines swimming and running with uninterrupted timing.

The competition begins with swimming. Then running shoes are put on and, if necessary, the sportswear is changed. Then it goes straight to the run. Usually, the distances are based on the triathlon competitions for popular and short triathlons (500–750 m swimming, 5 km running or 1–1.5 km swimming, 10 km running).

A variant comes from Australia, which is carried under the name Aquathlon in the German sports regulations. The order here is 2.5 km run, 1 km swim and again 2.5 km run. Related are the swimrun sport (multiple changes between running and swimming) and the non-endurance- oriented combination sport biathle (running - swimming - running).

Swim & Run and Aquathlon are organized in the triathlon associations.
