World Championships in Modern Pentathlon

Under the umbrella organization Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM), world championships in modern pentathlon were organized for the first time in 1949 . In 1949 the World Championships in Stockholm started with two competitions for men in the individual and in the team, in 1981 in London the women also competed in the modern pentathlon for the first time in the individual and in the team. In 1989 a relay competition was introduced for the men and 1992 for the women, in 2010 a mixed relay was introduced as the last competition, so that the official program currently includes seven competitions.
