Dorota Stanisława Idzi (born May 8, 1966 in Ścinawka Średnia as Dorota Stanisława Nowak ) is a Polish modern pentathlete . With 16 titles and eight other medals at world championships , she is the most successful athlete in her sport.
life and career
Idzi celebrated her first international success in 1985 when she won the gold medal with the Polish team at the World Cup in Montreal, Canada . The last career success was winning the title with the team at the 2000 World Cup in Pesaro, Italy . Idzi won a total of 16 world championship titles, three times silver and four times bronze; The Polish woman was only able to achieve five of these medals, including one title. Between 1989 and 1999 Idzi also won six European championships as well as four silver and two bronze medals at these championships. At Polish championships she was able to win the title five times (1988, 1989, 1993, 1995, 2000), she was also three times national runner-up and won five bronze medals. When medals in the modern pentathlon were awarded for the first time in 2000 at the Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia , the 170 cm tall and 57 kg athlete only finished 16th out of 24 participants at the end of her career.
In August 1995 Idzi was awarded the Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland , in May 2001 she was awarded the Order Polonia Restituta .
